Here, are my sketches exploring different compositions and type placement.

Haiku Booklet

The objective of the Haiku Booklet was to pick a 3 line haiku and develop a series of designs that immersed the reader into the haiku. Using line, point, shape, and typography I created an 8 page book invoking the feelings and emotions of my chosen haiku.

Hear the sweet cuckoo

Through the big bamboo thicket

The full moon flutters

Here, I was having trouble making the word “flutters” feel like it was fluttering. I iterated multiple times until it felt right. I went with the second to last image.

Final Mockup

Here, are my first digital iterations without color. I ended up combining aspects of both and iterating on that.
